Cup noodle museum

Cup noodle is one of the biggest Japanese inventions. In Yokohama, a city very close by Tokyo, there is a Cup Noodle Museum.

The Cup Noodle Museum is located 10 minutes time of walk from Minato Mirai Station.
I got curious about the museum, and when I was in Yokohama for business trip, during my lunch break, I went to visit the Cup Noodle Museum. It costs 500 yen for entry and extras payments are required for activities such as making cup noodles or decorating cup noodles.
The theme of the museum is cup noodles but also about the idea of invention itself. There are many brain inducing pictures and animations.
There is a cup noodle ramen tree, with writings of unique, creative, happy, global… 4 key words…
There are sections where you can see how inventors got their ideas…
Did you spot Creative?
And also the history of instant noodles, a room full of instant noodles from 1958, the first products until today…
A 10-minutes-short animation explaining all, the ideas, the procedure, and so on…
A replica of the house where Momofuku Ando, created the instant noodles.

It is a perfect place to go with children, and it is a perfect place for adults who like cup noodles.
I re-embraced the idea of creative thinking while eating a cup noodle.

There is a phrase that Momofuku Ando said, when he was about founding and leading the Instant Food Industry Association:
”Rather than a lone cedar, it is better to nurture a whole forest. No one has a monopoly on ideas. Everybody nurtures ideas.”

Cheers,
Ece
